Summary of the movie – start and end


The movie begins by introducing the main character, a young man who is struggling to get through Community College. He has a great passion for writing and he wants to be an author, but he is stuck in community college and not sure how to get out.

The movie then transitions into two different segments. The first segment is about Ernesto’s girlfriend, Angie, who is pregnant and wants him to help her out with her finances so she can afford an abortion.

Ernesto agrees to help Angie, but when he goes to visit her at the doctor’s office to discuss the details of the abortion, they end up having sex instead.

The second segment of the movie involves Ernesto’s professor/mentor, Mr. Collins (played by John Leguizamo). Mr. Collins teaches English at Community College and carelessly lets it slip that Ernesto has been absent from class without being marked as tardy or absent!

This incident resulted in Mr. Collins getting fired from his job at Community College!

In the final section of this movie we see Mr. Collins trying unsuccessfully to find employment elsewhere before eventually returning back to his hometown where he tries again at finding work as an English professor at a Community College.
